Bandana sizes explained from hankie, standard, XL to Jumbo
Bandana Sizes Explained
The humble bandana scarf comes in several different sizes.
Hankie Size
Starting with the smallest, the hankie or handkerchief size bandana is most commonly seen tucked into pockets for wiping noses, hands, and all sorts of other uses!
Typically measuring around 14" x 14" (35cm x 35cm), these can also fit babies' and children's heads when folded diagonally into a triangle.
Standard Size
Next comes the most common size for headwear, the Standard Bandana.
A standard bandana measures approximately 22" x 22" (56cm x 56cm) and creates a good-sized triangle when folded, providing great coverage for everyday wear. Judging by current fashion trends, bandanas are becoming one of 2026's must-have hair accessories.
Extra Large (XL)
Now things get a little more interesting.
Some sellers market standard-sized bandanas as XL. We have absolutely no idea why, as the standard size fits most people perfectly well and is noticeably smaller than a genuine XL bandana.
You can see a comparison photo at the top of this page.
A true XL bandana measures approximately 27" x 27" (69cm x 69cm) and is ideal for:
- Covering larger heads
- Wrapping longer hair
- Dreadlocks
- Head wraps
- Bikers and outdoor activities
- Craft and sewing projects
The extra size makes a surprising difference once you see the two sizes side by side.
Jumbo Bandanas
Need something even bigger?
The Jumbo Bandana might be for you.
These impressive bandanas measure approximately 35" x 35" (89cm x 89cm) and are designed for applications where even an XL just isn't large enough.
No, unfortunately we don't sell Jumbo bandanas at Thats-Charming.co.uk... sorry! ????
